This year I spent another wonderful evening at Sacred Heart Academy celebrating the continuation of Catholic Education in my Mt. Pleasant, MI. If you attended this year's event and looking for a photographer in the near future to capturing your growing family or a special event in your life please connect with me! I would love to capture your life's moments. Thank you! - Liz
All this cold weather and ice has me thinking about summer weddings and the sun. Being a wedding photographer in Grand Rapids, Michigan is slightly gloomy from November through March. Days are short, cloudy and very snowy. I am a summer girl so I am counting down the days until April when the sun peaks out a little more.
Today I decided to share Alyse and Steven on the blog. They tied the knot together last August in Bay City, Michigan. We spent the morning together at Salon Nuveau in the downtown area of Bay City before the ceremony. Alyse and Steven have a large friend group and their bridal party was full of life as they supported Alyse and Steven throughout the day. Alyse and Steven celebrated the night with meaningful toasts, great drinks and tons of dancing at Lumber Barons for their reception. I can't wait for more couples to get married this year and would love to connect with you if you are recently engaged.
If you are still searching for your wedding day photographer please consider me! I love having fun but also being professional and organized to help you day go smoothly. I value couples uniqueness and telling their story. I enjoy natural posing and allowing you and your sweetie to interact naturally through prompts and movement that will surely make you roar with laughter. If you are interested, you can inquiry about your wedding day above under "Inquiries" Cheers!
Engagement session is upon us and many couples are buying rings, planning proposals and wondering how they are going to select the ideal venue to say, "I do." A photographer should be one of the first things that you are considering. When seeking a photographer it is important to keep in mind what parts of your wedding day you would like to have photographed.
You should also think about your timeline, if you would like a first look with your fiancé and approximately what your budget will be. All of these things will give you a clear idea of your expectations and also what kind of experience you are looking for a photographer to give you on your special day. I also always connect with my couples in person or over video chat first. We get a time to drink coffee and talk about your vision for your day. It is important for me to connect on a personal level and hear what your specific needs are and what is important to you. As a potential client, I always want my couples to feel really good about choosing me for their special day and feel comfortable asking any questions they may have.
I am finally getting caught up on blogging some of my sessions from this summer and fall. Sheldon and Emma are high school sweethearts and will be getting married this upcoming year in Hudsonville, MI. Their engagement session was full of laughs and they naturally just fell into each other's arms during our session and made my job so easy! We started their engagement in downtown Holland, MI to get a few formal images and then chased the sun to a local Lake Michigan beach for a breathtaking few and a beach to ourselves.
Sheldon and Emma were up for anything to be able to get amazing images, which is a photographer's dream. When I suggested getting into the 30 degree water they agreed! We all got into the water and captured beautiful images as the sunset over Lake Michigan. I can't wait to capture Emma and Sheldon's wedding this summer and be by their side as they say I do.
If you are recently engaged I would love to connect with you and find time to get together and talk about your special day.
After grabbing coffee with Hannah and Bryan after work on a weekday I could tell that their love for each other was authentic and genuine. Hannah and Bryan are planning a winter wedding in downtown Grand Rapids with their closest family and friends. They are planning for a relaxed morning ceremony with brunch following their ceremony. Their love is easy and real and I can't wait to be a part of their wedding day in a few weeks. After shooting their engagement session this fall, you should be prepared for their winter wedding to be filled with laughter, snuggles and extra kisses.
I met Hannah this spring at a wedding I shot at Wildwood Farms in Alto, MI. She was a bridesmaid in that wedding and she expressed to me that after watching me work at her best friend's wedding it solidified her decision to want me to capture her wedding day. As a professional wedding photographer this compliment is one of the most valued. I desire to be a photographer that is organized but flexible; creative but always remembering to be timeless.
Creating an experience that is personal and unique to each of my couples and their stories is important. Not every wedding day is the same and there is no standard way of capturing someone's wedding. From the moment a client initially connects with me I listen and always try to think of new and creative ways to tell their story. Each story is unique and deserves for their uniqueness to shine on their special day together.
October is one of the most beautiful times in Michigan. It seems as though the weather has a mind of it's own and is often stunningly captivating or completely unpredictable.
Joe and Alice wanted me to find the perfect fall location. In Michigan that means colorful leaves, apple orchards, pumpkin spice doughnuts and hayrides. I knew that Robinette's Apple Orchard would be the perfect place. During Joe and Alice's beautiful engagement session we experienced the unpredictable weather patterns of Michigan. Upon arrival we had beautiful sunshine and within a matter of 20 minutes it was sleeting and snowing. We took cover in the gift shop and got a few moments to get to know each more and discuss how their wedding planning was going. Joe and Alice are planning a beautiful wedding in Holland, MI on the lake shore.
This engagement was a beautiful example of why hiring a professional wedding photographer is important. No couple desires rain on their wedding day, but sometimes it happens. Hiring a professional who remains calm, knows how to trouble shoot and has equipment that can handle changes in lighting and weather patterns is important to ensuring you will receive amazing photographs no matter what time of day or weather comes your way.
I hope this fall engagement session brings a little warmth to your day! I am now booking for 2019 and 2020 weddings and would love to connect if you are engaged and planning a wedding of your own.
