After grabbing coffee with Hannah and Bryan after work on a weekday I could tell that their love for each other was authentic and genuine. Hannah and Bryan are planning a winter wedding in downtown Grand Rapids with their closest family and friends. They are planning for a relaxed morning ceremony with brunch following their ceremony. Their love is easy and real and I can't wait to be a part of their wedding day in a few weeks. After shooting their engagement session this fall, you should be prepared for their winter wedding to be filled with laughter, snuggles and extra kisses.
I met Hannah this spring at a wedding I shot at Wildwood Farms in Alto, MI. She was a bridesmaid in that wedding and she expressed to me that after watching me work at her best friend's wedding it solidified her decision to want me to capture her wedding day. As a professional wedding photographer this compliment is one of the most valued. I desire to be a photographer that is organized but flexible; creative but always remembering to be timeless.
Creating an experience that is personal and unique to each of my couples and their stories is important. Not every wedding day is the same and there is no standard way of capturing someone's wedding. From the moment a client initially connects with me I listen and always try to think of new and creative ways to tell their story. Each story is unique and deserves for their uniqueness to shine on their special day together.
October is one of the most beautiful times in Michigan. It seems as though the weather has a mind of it's own and is often stunningly captivating or completely unpredictable.
Joe and Alice wanted me to find the perfect fall location. In Michigan that means colorful leaves, apple orchards, pumpkin spice doughnuts and hayrides. I knew that Robinette's Apple Orchard would be the perfect place. During Joe and Alice's beautiful engagement session we experienced the unpredictable weather patterns of Michigan. Upon arrival we had beautiful sunshine and within a matter of 20 minutes it was sleeting and snowing. We took cover in the gift shop and got a few moments to get to know each more and discuss how their wedding planning was going. Joe and Alice are planning a beautiful wedding in Holland, MI on the lake shore.
This engagement was a beautiful example of why hiring a professional wedding photographer is important. No couple desires rain on their wedding day, but sometimes it happens. Hiring a professional who remains calm, knows how to trouble shoot and has equipment that can handle changes in lighting and weather patterns is important to ensuring you will receive amazing photographs no matter what time of day or weather comes your way.
I hope this fall engagement session brings a little warmth to your day! I am now booking for 2019 and 2020 weddings and would love to connect if you are engaged and planning a wedding of your own.
Hannah and Bryan met at 8th Day Gym in Grand Rapids, MI. When we began planning their engagement session they expressed a desire to do some of their session at the gym and incorporating their love of crossfit. I always enjoy getting to know my couples while they are doing something that they love or in a location that is important to them and their story. Engagement sessions are meant to be fun, relaxed and a time to get to know your photographer before your big day. Be sure to consider unique locations that are important or significant to you and your fiancé. Cheers!
Sigourney is my one and only life long friend. We have been friends for over 25 years, and often joked about exchanging crockpots or other kitchen appliances on our anniversary.. We have gone through all the highs and lows of life together. Sigourney taught me how to ride a bike, tie my shoes and even how to downhill ski. She at times was an older sister to me during the lows of life and she has always challenged me to make myself better. Through our differences she has taught me about compromising and being a friend to the ones you love. She is one of the most loyal and fiercely devoted people I have ever met. She lives life passionately and isn't afraid of doing hard things and fighting for what you believe in.
After Sigourney graduated from the University of Michigan she moved to El Salvador to work as a missionary. She has chosen a life serving the community and children of La Libertad.
This spring I received THE "Guess what?" text from her. My heart skipped a beat and I immediately texted back " YOU'RE ENGAGED!!" After an exchange of those text messages the planning began. Samuel and Sigourney were planning to get married the Saturday after Thanksgiving and her family and a few friends would be invited. I was so excited! I had yet to visit her in El Salvador and it had been some time since we last saw each other.
I bought my plane ticket, my dress and packed my camera equipment. I was ready and excited to embark on my first destination wedding; but even more thrilled that it would be my best friend's wedding day that I would be capturing.
Samuel and Sigourney, thank you for inviting me to be a part of your wedding day. I loved seeing your home where you met and laughing with your family and friends all week long. It was a trip I will never forget. I thank God that he brought the two of you together and I pray you have a grace filled marriage, full of laughter and memories. Cheers!
Words can't even describe how full my heart was shooting and editing this wedding. I smiled the entire day alongside of Jessie, Ryan and their friends. Jessie and Ryan are not only amazing and caring people they are the most thoughtful bride and groom. They were intentional with every little detail of their wedding and desired to make all of their guests feel loved and appreciated. They also throw one hell of a party! From the moment the bridal party walked into the tent the air filled with celebration and joy.
One of the things that related to me most while celebrating Jessie and Ryan's day was Jessie's relationship with her family. Jessie and her siblings love each other like I love my brothers. The love that they share together is a bond that I rarely witness with other siblings and when I am around it I instantly feel at home.
I have never smiled, laughed and cried so much at a wedding. It was so refreshing to feel so much authenticity for my creative spirit. I have said it before but Jessie and Ryan are so cool. I hope you love them as much as I do. Their personalities, style and love for each other is one for the record books. Enjoy!
When I first met Jon and Taylor at their consultation I knew we were going to click. They ordered a Moscow mule and an Oberon two of my favorite drink choices. They are so cute together and cannot wait to be married. Jon shared with me that he has a large Polish family and my heart instantly jumped! I cannot wait to polka and be surrounded by his family as I capture them all celebrating together. Jon and Taylor, I am literally counting down the days to your wedding! You are both going to look amazing and I know that your pictures will turn out amazing because of the love you have for each other. Cheers!
Jess and Ben are so adorable together. Listening to Jess talk about how they met and how all the pieces just magically fell into place was so special Watching Ben listen to Jess tell their proposal story was my favorite part about spending the afternoon with them. I watched Jess's face completely lit up as she shared with me the story of how she got proposed to in Aruba on the beach. I cannot wait for their wedding day next year and I've already started a countdown! Cheers!
Rafe and Alyssa were married at the quaint, and rustic Post Family Farms in Allendale, MI. We couldn't have asked for better weather and stunning sunshine for their wedding day.
Their wedding was a beautiful collaboration of family members and friends coming alongside of Rafe and Alyssa to celebrate God and their marriage. Rafe and Alyssa's first look was so touching. As they walked through apple orchards they sun peeked in and out of the clouds.. As Rafe, set his eyes on his bride he didn't take loose sight of her the whole day. In that moment I could tell that they were best friends and completely adored each other.
Alyssa and Rafe spent the day hand in hand, laughing and sharing intimate moments throughout their wedding day celebrating. As the sun set in west Michigan Post Family
Farms was the perfect back drop to their intimate, classic and simple wedding that was centered around Jesus and their marriage.
Congratulations Rafe and Alyssa; I hope God blesses you with many years of joy and happiness as you begin this journey together. If you are engaged and looking to book a wedding for 2019 and 2020 I am now booking and would love to connect and talk about your vision for your upcoming wedding!
